Welcome to the New York-Student Peace Action Network! NY-SPAN
(We’re working on some cool new stuff for our student network section, so be sure to check back soon for more info!)
Want to get more involved in the student movement for peace? Start a Peace Action Student Chapter at your school and join our network of student activists! NY-SPAN is a coalition of Peace Action student chapters throughout New York State, all aimed at promoting student advocacy and education on non-violent conflict resolution, abolition of nuclear weapons, the human and financial costs of war, and the support of human needs over militarism.
NY-SPAN is dedicated to empowering student advocates to take action on issues of peace and justice. Through education, grassroots organizing, and action campaigns, we work to promote informed student activism on campus and build leadership among young people in the peace movement.

Meet Katie
Katie Rahill, Field Organizer/Program Assistant
A native of Buffalo, NY, Katie joined the PANYS team in August 2011 as our Student Organizing Coordinator. She now works full-time as our Field Organizer/Program Assistant and we are so excited to see her 5 days a week! Katie is a graduate of Fordham Graduate School of Social Service with a Master’s Degree in Social Work Administration and a specialization in Global Service. She’s previously served as an intern for the NGO/DPI Executive Committee of the United Nations, and as an Intake Coordinator intern for Full Circle Health in the Bronx, NY. While in college, Katie says her experience volunteering in the local community and leading service projects domestically and abroad sparked her passion for building a career in social advocacy. When she’s not at work, Katie likes to spend her time dreaming about living out west and planning her cross-country road trip!
